NESBIT KITCHEN What a difference a smarter layout makes! The customer’s main objective was to have a better-functioning kitchen with a view to the backyard so they could see the kids while cooking. We added a window facing the play area and turned and enlarged the island, making room for everyone to gather. An original desk area was replaced with two large pantries for food and supplies storage, and lots of drawers were incorporated for both organization and easy access. Also note the additional prep sink, which allows for less-congested workflow. We tucked recessed LED lighting into the ceiling as well as under the cabinets. The quartz countertops are beautiful and easy to care for. The blue backsplash tile pulls the whole thing together.
SANCTUARY KITCHEN Before the remodel, this light, airy kitchen featured dark stained cabinets and floors. To brighten things up, we painted the main kitchen cabinets and added the upper cabinets with glass doors and corbels to resemble a hutch. Over the cooktop, we also installed a custom hood and a beautiful new tile splash. To tie the kitchen into the rest of the main floor, we refinished the wood flooring and extended it into the adjacent family room and office.
GROVEWOOD KITCHEN Sometimes removing walls makes a world of difference. This trilevel home originally had a separate kitchen, dining room, and family room. But the customer entertains frequently and wanted to open the floorplan up. So we enlarged the kitchen space into the dining area, adding windows for views and more light. We also added the large island with plenty of seating and prep space. The hickory cabinetry, granite countertops, and counter-to-ceiling tile splash are elegant yet practical. Lighting is always an important part of a well-designed kitchen, so we added recessed LEDs in the ceiling, LED under-cabinet strips, and decorative pendants over the island.
ST. THOMAS KITCHEN It’s not always necessary to move everything around to get the look and function you want. In this kitchen, the floorplan stayed the same, but we replaced the original well-worn cabinetry with a combination of light and dark rustic alder. New quartz countertops, farmhouse sink, and tile backsplash completed the updated approach.
WALDEN KITCHEN We love helping customers make the most of the space they already have. In this remodel, we removed two framed-in pantries to open up the walkway from the kitchen into the dining room. We also vaulted the ceiling in the formal living/dining area and removed a wall to incorporate the original sunroom into the living space. In the kitchen, we added a large window for more light and a view into the beautiful backyard. The kitchen went modern, with sleek alder cabinetry, granite countertops, marble backsplash, stainless-steel appliances (including a built-in coffeemaker), lots of LED lighting (check out the toekick and indirect overhead lighting), and stacked-stone endcaps on the island. Wide-plank, white-oak flooring ties everything together.
CEDARGATE KITCHEN While the main layout of this kitchen remained the same, it got so much lighter and brighter with new Shaker-style painted cabinetry, stainless-steel appliances, white-quartz countertops, light-gray tile splash, and recessed lighting. We added the vented hood, which makes such a difference for cooking oils and odors. We also repaired and refinished the lovely red oak floors.
ALEXA KITCHEN In this cottage kitchen, we made lots of modifications to the original cabinets before painting them a fresh white and tucking in an apron-front sink. The tile backsplash was added above translucent quartzite countertops.
